On 27th June, 2020 Barnabás Nagy, doyen of the Hungarian orthopterists passed away, aged 99. His nearly 8-decade-long orthopterological career covered the ecofaunistics over the Carpatho-Pannonian and other regions, community ecology, taxonomy, ethology and nature conservation of the grasshoppers. His person and his publications inspired several young orthopterists in Central Europe. He will be sorely miss by his colleagues and friends.
